Orientation Volunteer Sign-up
Remember the first time you step in this very Boarding School with excitement a few years back, and then you are ushered around the neighbourhood and Singapore by a bunch of enthusiastic orientation leaders. Have you ever thought of being one of them to help your junior to assimilate to the local environment quickly? If you think you can lead a group of people and love to interact with them, then sign up now as an orientation group leader? Alternatively, you can also help out in the orientation as a photographer. We are looking for people who can commit themselves between the period of 7th November 2007 to 11th November 2007 and responsible enough to perform their duties faithfully. Besides the CIP hours that you stand to gain, you would also be given a free oorientation T-shirt. So hurry up and sign up now!
You can sign up here at the blog as well. Click on "comments" and give us your name, cluster/room, school, handphone number, email, and whether you want to be an OG leader or photographer.

Regarding the publicizing of events on the blog has yet to be processed as the amount of viewership is still not significant enough. The placing of posters and announcement would otherwise be more effective. Such considerations can be taken into account in the future when this blog becomes more popular as a medium for feedback. Currently such scenarios have yet to surface. And if you have not realize it, the problems you have feedbacked to us in the blog have been fulfilled so far (the feasible ones of course). We are unable to reply to personal comments as name and contact details have not been stated. While for those who did state their names have been properly addressed, and in most cases satisfied whether it is through this blog or feedback form.

Cheers,
Si Jin

Council Dialogue Session

Dear Boarders,

The council would like to thank all those who came down for the council dialogue session we had last Thursday, and especially those who took the courage to stand up and give their feedbacks. It was an effective session that allows us to further understand some concerns and problems boarders have. These feedbacks will be taken seriously and will be due for discussion in the council and the admin sometime soon. The results may not be immediate, especially when exams are impending. We hope that you would understand and give us some time to process these feedbacks. All the best to all in the upcoming prelims/school exams.

Cheers,
Si Jin (Vice-president)

IT Accessibility in Boarding School

Dear Boarders,

The 7th Boarders Council is concern about the issue of the lack of internet accessibility in the boarding school. As most of you would have known, the 7th Boarders Council and the HCIBS Management have jointly launched the HCIBS_WLAN as our official wireless network but only on the groundlevel due to technical and financial constraints. This establishment is merely a stepping stone of the council's effort and passion to fulfill your welfare needs, we will need more than that. Recently, the council has been given the greenlight to increase internet accessibility in the boarding school. We have thought of two ways of doing so, they are:

1. Open another computer lab.

2. Increase the wireless coverage to all floors.

Due to budget constraints, it is an either/or decision. We would like to gather your opinion on this issue. Just click on "comments" and tell us what decision you think is most suitable and why. Go beyond your own interests and think of the boarding school as a whole. Please state your name and cluster, your suggestions are important to the council.

We, the councillors of Hwa Chong Institution Boarding school,
pledge that,
We will take ownership of our boarding school
and strive to be proactive
In creating a "Home away from Home" enviroment.
We will serve our community
with great joy, passion and commitment,
living up to the definition of a servant leader.
We will take pride in our work and contribution,
acknowledging that
it is a privilege to lead and serve
As a new BC ,
we will stand united as one body and remain
steadfast in cultivating
the spirit of "living, sharing and growing"
among our peers in the boarding school.
We will uphold the constitution of the Boarders' council.
